Province Of The Most Pure Heart Of Mary
In the Spring of 2008 a group of young men approached the Director of the Chapel about the possibility of having a night of prayer and reflection in the Chapel just for men. They were part of a group of men called Magis Christi, (meaning More Christ) who were meeting every Tuesday evening in their respective parishes to share faith, pray, admonish and hold each other in accountability. They felt the need for a more formal prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament and were looking for a more personal guidance from the Church. It was decided that a night of prayer and reflection would be held in the Chapel on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M.
The format of the evening of prayer was developed from the expressed concerns of the men themselves. The evening begins with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament followed by a brief talk by one of the Carmelite Friars. Then there are fifteen to twenty minutes of silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament during which time the priests are available for Confession or private consultation. A second brief talk is given by another Carmelite Friar and the evening is brought to a close with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
Following the prayer service many of the men stay behind to share a cup of coffee and fellowship for about half an hour.
The Men’s Night of Prayer and Reflection is open to all men who are seeking to deepen their faith and to strengthen their relationship with the Lord.
